A local college has used one of the areas for research.

The current owner's great-grandfather used to operate a grist mill on the property. The original building is currently located near the main house. People came from all around the area to have their grain milled.

The ranch offers excellent bird hunting. Pheasant, partridge, ducks and geese abound. Mule deer are also found on the property.

Winter offers great recreational activities at nearby Pomerelle Ski Resort and snowmobiling on Mt. Harrison. It is also about 30 minutes from the world famous "City of Rocks National Reserve".
