About Smyth Farms
In 1904, my great-grandfather, George T. Smyth, sold his farmland near North Platte, Nebraska, and moved to Nampa, Idaho. He bought farmland north of town, and the Smyth’s have farmed in Canyon County from then until the spring of 2008. For 33 years, I made my full-time contribution to Canyon County agriculture, raising alfalfa seed, edible beans, corn, hay and other crops.
Those of us involved in production agriculture are keenly aware of the changes that have occurred in our way of life in the last few years. Crop prices have been good, finally, for the past little while, but none of us know how long it will last. The accompanying higher prices for fuel, fertilizer and the other required input costs make it necessary for prices to remain high – but what if they don’t? The dramatic impact our growing cities are having on the value of our land is causing us to look seriously at our bottom line. For those planning to stay in production agriculture, the higher values are making it difficult to protect our base or offer the next generation an opportunity to continue the farming way of life.
For about 10 years, I have been doing loan brokering for farm and ranch families as a diversification to my farming business. I have been able to help many folks secure financing for their farms or ranches throughout the Northwest. I have closed loans of all sizes. I have sources of conventional mortgages at good rates and terms. I also have loan sources for clients who have had difficulties of various types but who still have significant equity in their land.
Two years ago, I secured my Idaho Real Estate Sales License, and in May, 2008, secured my Real Estate Sales License for Oregon. I primarily work with farm and ranch properties. That is the community I have been an integral part of all my life. I understand the issues surrounding agricultural land – I have lived these issues first-hand.
If you are thinking of selling your ranch or farm, I bring a down to earth, common sense approach to your transaction. My number one goal it to protect the interests of your family, as you work through the marketing of your most valuable financial asset.
If you are someone interested in purchasing a ranch or farm in Idaho or Oregon, I bring a unique understanding of agricultural properties and the ag community to the table. I am careful to bring only properties that meet your criteria to you for consideration.
When you do business with SMYTH FARMS Real Estate Services, you do business with me. I have a great team of support folks – but I am the one who meets with you or visits with you on the phone. I welcome an opportunity to visit with you. No cost. No obligation. Answers to questions are without cost and freely given.
I look forward to hearing from you.
